Coupons Still Continue to Climb in 2010

Just a few coupon stats for you to look at:

Coupon use grew to 29 percent, the first annual increase seen since 1992.

More than 3.3 billion coupons were redeemed in 2009, for a total savings of $858 million. This marks the second-highest year-over-year growth in coupon redemption ever recorded,

Nearly 30 percent of people said they made a special trip to a store to use a coupon.

Brands issued 367 billion coupons with an average face value of $1.44.

Online coupons nearly doubled in distribution, with companies releasing 92 percent more in 2009 than 2008.

Google reported "coupons" was the number-one search term on its list of economy-related queries for 2009,

Internet redemption growth has skyrocketed, rising 263% in 2009.

Households with income of $100,000 and up were the primary drivers of coupon growth in 2009.

Groupon, the fastest growing Internet Company in the history of the web, was started in fall 2008 and has attracted more than 12 million members worldwide - with about 2 million more joining every month.

February 2010 coupon traffic measured 12.8 million users, a 62% increase from 7.9 million users in February 2009.

A bagel shop in Chicago had over 10,000 bagel Groupons redeemed.
